I feel like this is the type of movie that I'm supposed to hate, but I don't care: I really like it. Fun end-of-the-world type movie with cheesy dialogue, but overall I can't help but enjoying watching this movie.
As an aside, this movie got me thinking: can a pacifist (like myself) support violence against aliens?

That's an interesting moral question I've never thought about. I loved Independence Day when it came out. I now thinkg that everything Roland Emmerich has ever directed is awful, including this one.
