I just read about a pretty amazing program going on in the Chicago area. Basically the program rescues an abandoned dog. From there, the dog is partnered with an inmate in the Westville Correctional Facility who trains and handles the dog 24 hours a day for 4-8 weeks. Once the dog has been trained, it gets certified and adopted to a family. From there, "Families get loving pets, dogs get new homes, offenders learn new skills, and our circle begins again." Read more about this amazing program at their website here. Be sure to read the success stories.

This is the type of program our society needs. Its a creative and resourceful way to invest in the community, including the outcast and forgotten, that will no doubt bring about change.
