I'm Looking for a Candidate (Version 2.0)

Pro-Life.

Just by saying this words, immediately abortion rights comes to mind; however, being pro-life is much more than just the issue of abortion. It still boggles my mind that people who are so vehemently against abortion often times cheer the loudest for the death penalty. That simply does not add up for me.

My candidate would be pro-life across the board.

First, he/she would join the majority of the rest of the world by working to abolition the death penalty completely. The death penalty costs the taxpayers more money than a lifetime sentence, shows no sign of determent from crime, has the possibility (and probability) of taking an innocent person’s life, and is simply inhumane. My candidate would begin to make strides to end the death penalty by showing and discussing the reasons why it should be taken away and by appointing judges who also value the sanctity of life.

Second, my candidate would be against abortions, which I firmly believe is taking of a human life. Again the president would communicate and discuss this stance with the public as well as appointing judges who agree with this point of view. However, it would not end there (although, this is where most anti-abortion activists stop their activism.) Our president needs to be proactive about the solution! There needs to be support and aide to help end unwanted pregnancies for teenage girls and at-risk women. For example, there must be better health care and services for the poor and less fortunate. There also should be education for all, including the prevention of STD’s and unwanted pregnancies by teaching abstinence and safe sex.

Thirdly, the candidate should be committed to abolishing doctor-assisted suicide. The sanctity of life should apply to all ages, including the elderly and sick. While I do not take issue with “pulling the plug” (which is a whole different issue and discussion), I do not agree with the controlled killings of the elderly and the sick.
