David Sedaris

Seeing David Sedaris is sorta going to see a band that you have listened to over and over again and have heard nothing but great things about, but for whatever reason, you haven't had the chance to see them live yet (see Cold War Kids or Band of Horses for me). You know they are going to be good; you love their songs. Yet you worry about the show. The reason for the hesitation is threefold: 1.) You spent a lot of money on the tickets and they really have to impress you to make up for the departure of your hard earned money. 2.) If you see them live, and they are painfully mediocre, their music will forever be somewhat dull. 3.) The Nole factor- they have been built up so much, you worry there is no chance of them living up to their reputation.

Anyways, this is how I felt going to see David Sedaris with Carrie last night. But boy did he deliver. His stories are so funny and interesting and they way he reads them is drier than a bad piece of veggie meat. Anyways, if you get a chance to go see him, do it. If not, got to your library and see if they have any of his books on CD (they had one at my library); while its not as good as seeing him, it at least will make you laugh at work.

Love the redesign. Nice and simple.

Also, you can hear Sedaris read his stories here: www.thisamericanlife.org
