Everyone knows about my accident. Lame. Now I have some scars to show for it. There are some spots on my elbow that are permanently white and weird looking. I don't really care, scars don't really bother me. But they do remind me of something that happened. Thinking about my healing process, specifically my road rash, I couldn't help but think about how strange it is. First, my skin is peeled off by the road and oozes pus and blood. Then, over time, it begins the healing process. To help it along, the wife put Neosporine and bandages over it. After a day or so, we'd peel the bandages off to re-dress them and inevitably, the abrasion would stick to the bandages, ripping and tearing more skin off. Pus and blood would drip out again and we'd clean it up and go through the process again. This process lasted for probably two or three weeks, until the wounds began to scab. The scabbing is better then the ripping and re-bandaging, but it still sucks. It itches and hurts and if you bump it (even in your sleep) it feels like someone is rubbing salt in the wound. After close to two weeks of this, finally the wounds heal, leaving behind the white, bumpy ruins that we call scars. Hopefully they will serve as a reminder not to do stupid things anymore (like crashing you bike).
I began to think about this process and how it applies to our lives. It is similar to the struggles and hardships we have. We screw up and wind up hurting our selves. We try out best clean our selves up and fix the wound, but know matter what, it ends up re-opening and causing us more pain. We try to heal as best as we can, but it hurts all along the way. Finally, we feel as though we are getting better, yet incredibly we still have the annoying itch to return to the very thing or issue that caused us pain. Lastly, we have moved past the issue, and the pain has subsided but we still have the scars to remind us.
May the scars of my wrong doings in the past serve as a reminder to treat other better and steer clear of things that cause me pain.

Hey man nice post. Post more. I am burning for you brand new and thrice- in the meantime...here are some lyrics off of vheissu relating to scars...they are beautiful.
"I know one day, all our scars will disappear, like the stars at dawn
and all of our pain, will fade away when morning comes
and on that day when we look backwards we will see, that everything is changed
and all of our trials, will be as milestones on the way
and as long as we live, every scar is a bridge to someone's broken heart
and there's no greater love, than that one shed his blood for his friends
on that day all of the scales will swing to set all the wrongs to right
all our tears, and all of our fears will take to flight
but until then all of our scars will still remain, but we've learned that if we'll
open the wounds and share them then soon they start to heal
(as long as we live, we are bridges to someone broken heart
there's no greater love, shed your blood for your friends)
we must see that every scar is a bridge, and as long as we live
we must open up these wounds
when some one stands in your shoes and will shed his own blood
there's no greater love. we must open up our wounds"
much love
